Doxitran
Doxitran is effective in treatment of a variety of infectious diseases such as diseases caused by Brucella, Pasteurella, Rickettsia;Pulmonary infection, urogenital infection and ophthalmic infections caused by Chlamydiae and Mycoplasma;ENT infections and bronchi (pulmonary) infection caused by Haemophilus influenzae;Gonorrhea Infections caused by Treponema;Cholera caused by Vibrio cholerae;Acnes caused by Propionibacterium acnes and For preventing malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum.

Dosage Form & Composition
Capsule: Each Doxitran capsule contains Doxycycline 100 mg.
Pack size: box of 10 blisters x 10 capsules.
Pharmacology
Tetracycline antibiotics are protein synthesis inhibitors, inhibiting the binding of aminoacyl-tRNA to the mRNA-ribosome complex. They do so mainly by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit in the mRNA translation complex.
Indications
In treatment of a variety of infectious diseases:
- Diseases caused by Brucella, Pasteurella, Rickettsia.
- Pulmonary infection, urogenital infection and ophthalmic infections caused by Chlamydiae.
- Pulmonary infection, urogenital infection and ophthalmic infection caused by Mycoplasma.
- ENT infections and bronchi (pulmonary) infection caused by Haemophilus influenzae.
- Gonorrhea. Infections caused by Treponema.
- Cholera caused by Vibrio cholerae.
- Acnes caused by Propionibacterium acnes.
- For preventing malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum.
Contra-indications
- Patients known to be hypersensitive to any of the Tetracyclines.
- Pregnancy and lactation.
- Children under 8 years old.
- Serious liver failure patients.
Precautions/Warnings
Avoid the prolonged treatment because of the super-infection.
Stop using the drug when photosensitivity reactions occurs.
Interactions

Adverse Effects
- Reduction of enamel formation.
- Diarrhoea, nausea.
- Urticaria, photosensitivity reactions.
Inform your doctor of any adverse reaction related to drug use.
Dosage & Administration
Normal indications: take the drug in the meal
Adults over 60 kg body weight: 2 capsules a day
Adults under 60 kg body weight: 2 capsules on the first day, followed by a maintenance dose of 1 capsule
Children over 8 years old: 4 mg/kg body weight per day.
Acute gonorrhea:
- Male: 3 capsules on the first day, in 2 divided doses, followed by 2 capsules for 2-4 days.
- Female: 2 capsules a day.
Primary and secondary syphilis: 3 capsules a day, in 3 divided doses for less than 10 days.
Urethra, cervical, rectal inflammations caused by Chlamydia trachomatis: 2 capsules a day for less than 10 days.
Acnes: 1 capsule a day for 10-15 days, then reduce the dose to 1 capsule every 2 days.
For preventing malaria: take 1 capsule 1-2 days before entering the malaria endemic area, then take 1 capsule daily for 4 weeks after leaving the malaria endemic area.
Storage/Handling Recommendations
Store in dry places, below 30ºC, protect from light.
