CEFTRAN FORTE INJ

Ceftran Forte Injection is a prescription-only antibiotic medication approved by NAFDAC in Nigeria. It combines two active ingredients: Ceftriaxone Sodium (1,000 mg) and Sulbactam Sodium (500 mg), formulated as a dry powder for reconstitution. This combination enhances efficacy against certain bacterial infections by inhibiting beta-lactamase enzymes that would otherwise deactivate ceftriaxone.
Indications
Ceftran Forte is used to treat a variety of moderate to severe bacterial infections, including:
- Respiratory tract infections
- Urinary tract infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Bone and joint infections
- Intra-abdominal infections
- Meningitis
- Septicemia
- Pelvic inflammatory disease
- Gonococcal infections
It is administered via intravenous (IV) or intramuscular (IM) injection.
💊 Dosage Guidelines
Adults:
- Total daily dose ranges from 1.5 g to 3 g, corresponding to combinations of ceftriaxone and sulbactam (e.g., 1 g ceftriaxone / 0.5 g sulbactam to 2 g ceftriaxone / 1 g sulbactam).
- The total dose of sulbactam should not exceed 4 g per day
Pediatric Patients:
- Neonates (up to 14 days): 20–50 mg/kg once daily.
